Prerequisites

Directories. Storage Manager 2.0 supports the following directories:

  • eDirectory/NDS (v6.xx to 8.7.x and 8.8)
  • Microsoft Active Directory (Windows Server 2003 SP1 in 2000 Native Mode or higher.)

    • Event Monitoring.Supported on the following platforms:

  • NetWare 5.1 SP6 or later
  • NetWare 6.0 SP4 or later
  • NetWare 6.5 SP1 or later
  • OES Netware
  • Windows Server 2000 SP4 Domain Controller
  • Windows Server 2003 SP1 Domain Controller

    • Sentinel Service. Supported on the following platforms:

  • NetWare 5.1 SP6 or later
  • NetWare 6.0 SP4 or later
  • NetWare 6.5 SP1 or later
  • OES Netware
  • Windows Server 2000 SP4
  • Windows Server 2003 SP1

    • Engine Service. Supported on the following platforms:

  • NetWare 6.0 SP4 or later
  • NetWare 6.5 SP1 or later
  • OES Netware
  • Windows Server 2003 SP1.

    • Managed Storage Platforms. Storage Manager 2 supports the following platforms as target servers for hosting user and collaborative storage:

  • NetWare 4.x SP9 or later
  • NetWare 5.0 SP6a or later
  • NetWare 5.1 SP4 or later
  • NetWare 6.0 SP2 or later
  • NetWare 6.5 SP1 or later (including OES NetWare)
  • OES Linux SP1 (with NSS services enabled)
  • Windows 2000 servers (NTFS)
  • Windows 2003 servers (NTFS.)

    • NSMAdmin Mgmt Interface. NSMAdmin.exe manages the eDirectory or Active Directory platforms, and has the following minimum requirements for Windows:

  • Windows 32-bit platform (Windows 2000, XP, or Server 2003)
  • .NET 1.1 SP1 Framework installed (Does not support .Net 2.0 Framework)
  • .NET security settings adjusted if running the executable from a network drive

    Novell Storage Manager 2.0 is a single download with an intelligent installation that automatically detects the destination Operating System, either Linux, NetWare, or Windows, and installs accordingly.

    1. Create a directory on the destination server.
    2. Download NSMV20.exe.
    3. Unzip NSMV20.exe and extract the contents to the newly created directory.
