Setting Up Access Control Policies

Using the planning worksheets as a reference, complete the following steps:

  1. Start the device's System Controller and click Configuration > Access Control.

    For help starting the device's System Controller, see Using the Device's System Controller.

  2. Referring to your planning sheets, type a policy name > select the correct policy stage > click Insert.

  3. In the Description field, type the description you entered on the policy planning sheet.

  4. Click Rule 1, which is a system-created placeholder you should change.

  5. Referring to the first rule planning sheet for the policy, type a description in the Rule Description field.

  6. Select the appropriate action for the rule.

  7. Specify any options you recorded on the sheet.

  8. Select a priority for the rule > select a Join value.

    For more information, see the explanation in Rules Specify the Action and the Evaluation Order.

  9. Referring to the rule planning sheet, verify that the correct join option (If or If Not) is specified for the first set.

    The drop-down list is in the middle of the line just below the rule column indicators: Select, Type, Operator, etc.

  10. Referring to the condition planning sheets attached to the rule planning sheet, insert one condition for each sheet, being sure to group the conditions in sets as indicated on the rule planning sheet.

    NOTE:  After the first condition is entered, the Insert Condition drop-down list includes an option for inserting a new set.

  11. When all of the conditions are entered for the rule, click OK.

  12. Select the rule you just created and click Enable Selected Rules.

  13. If you have more rule sheets, click Insert Rule > type a description > return to Step 6.

  14. When you have inserted all the rules for the policy, click OK to return to the list of policies.

  15. Select the policy you just inserted and click Enable Selected Policies.

  16. If you need to create additional policies, return to Step 2. Otherwise, click OK to leave the policy list, then click Apply Changes Now to apply the changes to the device.
