1.0 QuickTime and MPEG-4 Issues

1.1 Fast Forwarding MPEG-4 Can Cause Frame Loss

Fast forwarding an MPEG-4 video that is playing through a transparent proxy for the first time can result in missing frames when the video is subsequently played from cache.

1.2 QuickTime Video and Audio Are Choppy

QuickTime* requests are filled using TCP unless the Enable Reliable Upstream option is unchecked for a service in the Web management interface or the no require-tcp-upstream command is issued for the service at the command line.

Disabling this feature for a service causes streams played through the service to be seriously degraded.

2.0 RealMedia Issues

2.1 Accessing through an Upstream RealProxy 9 Device

When accessing RealMedia* content on an upstream RealProxy 9 device through an ExceleratorTM RealMedia proxy service, the RealMedia content will not be cached.

2.2 RealMedia Content Not Cached in an Excelerator XL 1.0 Hierarchy

When each of the following conditions are true for a RealMedia service:

No RealMedia content is cached on either of the Excelerator XL 1.0 devices.

3.0 Windows Media Issues

3.1 Support for Windows Media 9

Media Excelerator XL for Windows Media* has not been tested with the new Windows Media 9 server and Windows Media 9 client.
