C.1 GroupWise Startup Options

This Startup Option

Does This

/@u-?

Displays a login dialog box whenever you open GroupWise, allowing you to supply any necessary login information.

/@u-USER ID

Lets you use your GroupWise user ID to open GroupWise as yourself on another user’s computer. The other user remains logged in to the network.

/bl

Prevents the GroupWise splash screen from being displayed when you enter the program.

/c

Checks for unopened items. If there are unopened items, GroupWise opens as usual. Otherwise, GroupWise does not start.

/cm

Checks for unopened items. If there are unopened items, GroupWise opens minimized and a beep sounds. Otherwise, GroupWise does not start.

/d=path_name

Lets you specify the path of the temp directory,

/iabs

Initializes the Address Book when GroupWise starts.

/ipa-ip_address_or_name

Lets you specify the IP address (x.x.x.x) or the name of the IP address when you are running in client/server mode.

/ipp-port_number

Lets you specify the IP port when you are running in client/server mode.

/l-xx

Applies only if you have two or more language versions or language modules. This option instructs GroupWise to override the default environment language (under General Environment in Options) with the language specified by the language code (xx). The language codes are listed in Section C.3, GroupWise Language Codes.

/la-network_id

Lets you log on to another user’s computer by using your network ID. The other user remains logged on to the network.

/nu

Turns off AutoRefresh. If this option is selected, click View, then click Refresh whenever you want to update the display with the items currently in your Mailbox.

/ph-path_name

Lets you specify the path to the post office. In order to use this switch, you must have a drive mapped to the post office and have Write rights to the databases that make up your mailbox. This configuration is not supported.

/pc-path_to_caching_mailbox

Opens GroupWise in Caching mode. GroupWise must be restarted when you change from Online mode to Caching mode.

/pr-path_to_remote_mailbox

Opens GroupWise in Remote mode. This startup option can be used in the Target field only.

/safe

Opens GroupWise in Safe mode. This startup option can be used if you are unable to launch GroupWise. Safe mode disables the following features:

  • Start in the home folder.

  • Synchronize at startup.

  • Auto synchronize.

  • Panels.

  • Message preview.

  • Display settings are not saved.

  • C3PO’s.

  • Auto archive, purge, and delete.

  • Quick Find indexing.

  • Novell Vibe.
