Chapter 9: Migrate Users' Mailboxes from OfficeVision/VM to GroupWise

The migration feature of the GroupWise* Gateway for OfficeVision/VM** lets you move notes, messages, and calendar items from the mainframe to the GroupWise system on the LAN. This chapter includes the following topics:

Transferring the Migration Utilities to the Mainframe

The migration utilities are included with the GroupWise Gateway for OfficeVision/VM program and are stored in the gateway subdirectory. These files should be sent to the mainframe system programmer as an attachment to a GroupWise message. These files must be renamed when they arrive at the mainframe, as shown in the following table.

Shipping Filename Renamed on the Mainframe
wpmovusr.exc WPMOVUSR EXEC
wpmovdst.exc WPMOVDST EXEC
wpmovlog.exc WPMOVLOG EXEC
wpmovcal.exc WPMOVCAL EXEC
wpmovcal.mod WPMOVCAL MODULE

Migrating Users from OfficeVision/VM to GroupWise

Before migrating users from OfficeVision/VM to GroupWise, set up a GroupWise account for each OfficeVision/VM user. With an account for each user created, the system programmer can begin to migrate users by doing the following,

  1. Receive all five migration utility files to the SYSADMIN account or some other account. As mentioned in the table above, the .EXC files must be renamed to an EXEC file type, and the .MOD file must be renamed to a MODULE file type.

  2. Log in to the user’s account that is to be moved from the mainframe.

  3. Copy the five utility files to the account, or link the user to the mini disk on which they reside.

  4. Run one of the following applications to display the command line syntax required to migrate users.
    Application Description
WPMOVUSR Displays the command line syntax for migrating a user's mail messages.
WPMOVLOG Displays the command line syntax for migrating a user's notes.
WPMOVCAL Displays the command line syntax for migrating a user's calendar.
