In Microsoft Exchange, all the archived messages are stored in a .PST file. When the .PST files are migrated, the messages in the files are migrated to GroupWise and the folder hierarchy is preserved.
IMPORTANT: If you already have a folder in GroupWise with the same name as Microsoft Exchange archive, messages will be migrated into the existing folder.
