8.3 Changing the Link Protocol between the Exchange Gateway and the MTA

Before the GroupWise 7 Gateway for Microsoft Exchange, the Exchange Gateway and the MTA communicated by transferring message files through message queue directories using a mapped/UNC link. Starting with the GroupWise 7 version of the gateway, you can configure the gateway so that it uses a TCP/IP link to communicate with the MTA, instead of transferring message files through queue directories. During installation, the Exchange Gateway is configured for a mapped/UNC link. You can reconfigure it to use a TCP/IP link in ConsoleOne®.

  1. In ConsoleOne, right-click the Exchange Gateway object, then click Properties.

  2. Click GroupWise > Network Address.

Internet Agent Network Address property page
  3. In the TCP/IP Address field, click Edit, specify the IP address or DNS hostname of the server where the Exchange Gateway is running (which is not necessarily the server where the Exchange Gateway software is installed), then click OK to return to the Network Address page.

  4. In the Message Transfer Port field, specify a unique port number; for example, 7103.

  5. Click OK to save the new link configuration for the Exchange Gateway.

ConsoleOne then notifies the Exchange Gateway and the MTA to restart using the new link protocol.
