8.0 Using ECMAScript in Policies

ECMAScript is a scripting programming language, standardized by Ecma International. It is often referred to as JavaScript or JScript, but these are subsets of ECMAScript. Identity Manager 3.5.1 supports a new object type called ECMAScript objects. ECMAScript objects are resource objects that store ECMAScripts. The ECMAScript is called through a policy to provide advanced functionality that DirXML Script or XSLT style sheets cannot provide.

This section explains how to use the ECMAScript editor, how to use ECMAScript with policies, and how to use ECMAScript with custom forms. It does not explain the ECMAScript language. See the ECMAScript Language Specification for information on how to use the ECMAScript language.
