9.2 iFolder Client Fails to Start Up

If you are not able to run the iFolder client, consider the following cause:

9.2.1 Linux

  1. Close the iFolder client GUI.

  2. Open a terminal console and run pkill -9<simias process id 1 simias process id 2> to end the simias processes.

  3. Run rm -rf <home directory>/local/share/simias to remove the simias directory.

    NOTE:Removing the simias directory deletes all the meta data of iFolder, so you need to configure the account again. You must remove the simias directory only if you are not able to start the client even after killing the simias processes.

  4. Restart iFolder after a few seconds to launch it successfully.

9.2.2 Windows XP

  1. Close the iFolder client GUI.

  2. In the Windows Task Manager, select the simias processes and terminate them by clicking End Process.

  3. Remove the simias directory %USERPROFILE%/Local Settings/Application Data/simias.

    NOTE:Removing the simias directory deletes all the meta data of iFolder, so you need to configure the account again. You must remove the simias directory only if you are not able to start the client even after killing the simias processes.

  4. Restart iFolder after a few seconds to launch it successfully.

9.2.3 Macintosh

  1. Close the iFolder client GUI.

  2. Open a terminal console and run killall mono to end the simias processes.

  3. Run rm -rf <home directory>/.local/share/simias to remove the simias directory.

    NOTE:Removing the simias directory deletes all the meta data of iFolder, so you need to configure the account again. You must remove the simias directory only if you are not able to start the client even after killing the simias processes.

  4. Restart iFolder after a few seconds to launch it successfully.
