Deployment Guide

This guide describes the Novell^® Nsure^TM Resources data model and explains how to set up and test this product in a lab environment.

The guide contains the following sections:

• Introducing Novell Nsure Resources

  Understanding the design and purpose of Novell Nsure Resources is key to a successful deployment. This section explains the Novell Nsure architecture, default dataflow, and policy.

• Setting Up the Workforce Tree

  The Workforce Tree is a flat Novell eDirectory^TM tree hosting DirXML^® and the Novell Nsure Resources data store. This section explains how to install and configure the Workforce Tree.

• Setting Up Novell iManager and eGuide

  Novell iManager and Novell eGuide^TM are browser-based tools that will help you set up Novell Nsure solutions. This section explains how to install and use these tools.

• Preparing the Lab for Novell Nsure Resources

  Each system that will share data must be prepared to communicate with DirXML and the Workforce Tree. This section explains how to prepare HR, messaging, and account systems.

• Configuring DirXML Drivers

  After you have prepared each system for provisioning, you must provide the DirXML drivers with system-specific information. This section walks you through driver configuration and validation.

• Moving Novell Nsure Resources from the Lab to Production

  This appendix covers fundamental steps that contribute to a successful roll-out of Novell Nsure Resources to a production environment.

• Activating Novell Nsure Resources

  Nsure Resources must be activated within 90 days of installation, otherwise it will shut down. This section explains how to request and install an activation credential.
