To perform the merge process, the Site #1 administrator needs to have exclusive access to the Site #2 databases. This access can be to either the Site #2 domain databases if the two GroupWise systems are connected, or to copies of the Site #2 domain databases if the systems are not connected. Exclusive access is created when the GroupWise MTAs are shut down and the administrator has admin-equivalent rights to the two systems.
