Tabbed Portal Pages

The Novell® ZENworks® OnDemand ServicesTM gadgets can be displayed as tabbed portal pages. With tabbed pages, you have one OnDemand Services entry in the left navigation bar. When you click the OnDemand Services entry, the right pane displays a tabbed page for each gadget the user has been assigned.

To set up tabbed pages:

  1. Log in to your portal as a portal administrator.

  2. Click Portal Administration, then click Administer the Portal.

  3. Click Pages to display the Pages page.

  4. The list of pages will include seven pages created by the NPS runtime installation program:

If any of these page names already existed before you installed the OnDemand Services patch dated Oct 2002, you will have two pages named the same. To discover which page is the tabbed page, select one of the pages, click Edit, click Properties, click All Settings, then locate the Object FDN setting. If the page's common name (CN) has a number appended to it (for example, Applications-734), it is the new tabbed page. Otherwise, it is the old page. After you discover which one is the tabbed page, you can rename it.

  5. For each page (other than the OnDemand Services page), edit the gadget settings to configure the gadgets. In particular, make sure the OnDemandService Object setting is defined for all gadgets that have that setting.

For a description of the gadget configuration settings, see Gadget Configuration Settings .

  6. Assign each page (other than the OnDemand Services page) to the users who should have access to the page. In general, use the following guidelines:

  7. Run the OnDemand Services Configuration Wizard to provide the gadgets with the OnDemand Administrator credentials. To do so:

    1. Log out and log in again as the portal administrator. This refreshes your portal and enables you to see the ODS Configuration page.

    2. Click ODS Configuration, then click Set OnDemand Administrator Credentials to display the Set Credentials window.

    3. In the Distinguished Name field, enter the full context of the OnDemand Administrator (ODSAdmin) object (for example, cn=ODSAdmin,ou=services,o=novell).

    4. In the Password field, enter the OnDemand Administrator password. This password must be the password that was entered during installation.

    5. Click Update.

  8. When you are ready for users to have access to the tabbed pages, assign the OnDemand Services page to the users.

  9. To ensure that the configuration changes are recognized, restart the Web server, Web Application Server, and JVM.
