Overview

Novell^® NetWare^® Migration Wizard lets you copy data from one NetWare server to another NetWare server in your network.

Migrating Data from NetWare 5 or 6---Migration Wizard migrates the file system and NDS database from a NetWare 5, NetWare 6, or NetWare 6.5 source server to a faster, more reliable NetWare 6 or NetWare 6.5 destination server. After NDS is migrated, the destination server replaces and assumes the identity of the source server on the network.

Valid destination servers must be running NetWare 6.0 or 6.5 if migrating from a NetWare 5 source server. If migrating from NetWare 6, valid destination servers must be running NetWare 6. Migrations from NetWare 6 to NetWare 6.5 can be accomplished in one of two ways:

• Migrate from a NetWare 6.0 source server to a NetWare 6.0 destination server, then upgrade the destination server to NetWare 6.5 with either an in-place or remote upgrade.
• Upgrade the NetWare 6.0 source server to NetWare 6.5 with either an in-place or remote upgrade, then migrate the upgraded NetWare 6.5 source server to a NetWare 6.5 destination server.

IMPORTANT:  To perform a migration from a NetWare 3 or NetWare 4 source server, or to perform a migration to a NetWare 5 destination server, use the Migration Wizard Utility version 6.5.
