Account Management 3.0.2 Update Instructions

These instructions are for installing Account Management 3.0.2 (also known as Support Pack 2) to existing Account Management 3.0 systems.

Novell^® Account Management 3.0.2 includes all of the changes introduced with Support Pack 1. You do not need to install Support Pack 1 before you upgrade to Account Management 3.0.2.

First-Time Installation: If you are installing Account Management 3.0 for the first time, you can disregard this document. Instead, follow the installation procedures outlined in the Quick Start guides for installation and configuration of Account Management.

Upgrading Platform Services for FreeBSD, HP-UX, Linux, and Solaris

Before beginning the upgrade process, review "Administering Platform Services for UNIX" in Platform Services Administration Guide.

If you have not installed Account Management to the default location, adjust the pathnames shown accordingly.

1. Ensure that the Platform Services Process and Platform Receiver are not running.
   To stop them, use the kill command.
2. With your Web browser, open readme.html from the root of the Account Management 3.0.2 distribution.
3. Using the link in readme.html, retrieve the Account Management 3.0.2 Platform Services archive for your OS. You can also obtain the archive from the File Distribution in the Web interface if the Manager has already been updated.
4. Extract the archive to a temporary location. This creates and populates an ASAM directory in the temporary location.
5. Run ASAM/setup/install and respond to the prompts.
6. You can now remove all of the files from the temporary location.
7. Review the updated Receiver Scripts in the subdirectories of /usr/local/ASAM/bin/PlatformServices/PlatformReceiver/scripts for any changes that should be made to your own Receiver Scripts. Receiver Scripts are run from the /usr/local/ASAM/bin/PlatformServices/PlatformReceiver/scripts directory.
8. Restart the Platform Services Process and, if appropriate, the Platform Receiver.
   • To start the Platform Services Process, run /usr/local/ASAM/bin/PlatformServices/PlatformServicesProcess/asampsp.
   • To start the Platform Receiver, run /usr/local/ASAM/bin/PlatformServices/PlatformReceiver/asamrcvr with the appropriate command line parameters for your installation.
