This document is the What's New document and provides an overview of what documents are available for Novell BorderManager 3.8 SP1 and the logical flow in which to read them.

The readme provides a brief overview of the features of Novell BorderManager 3.8. It also lists the known problems and limitations of the software.

2.1 Install Readme

The readme provides information on the new install for Novell BorderManager 3.8 SP1.

2.2 Issues Readme

The readme lists the known problems and limitations of Novell BorderManager 3.8 SP1.

3.0 Companion Readme

The readme provides a brief overview of the dependency products for Novell BorderManager 3.8.

4.0 Quick Start Card

The Novell BorderManager 3.8 Quick Start Card provides a brief introduction to the minimum system requirements and the install process for Novell BorderManager 3.8.


5.0 Installation and Administration Guide

The Installation and Administration Guide provides detailed instructions on how to set up and manage the software. It describes the Proxy, Filters and VPN components.

The major change in this guide is in the VPN services section. Please follow the certificate creation, VPN services, VPN monitoring, VPN upgrade and VPN client sections for setting up the VPN services.


6.0 Overview and Planning Guide

The Overview and Planning Guide has not changed much from the earlier version. This guide provides suggestions for the Proxy and Firewall components.


7.0 Configuring VPN: Easy Reference Pages

To simplify the VPN services configuration we provide two single-page flow charts. Read the Installation and Administration Guide while following the flow-charts for a successful configuration of site-to-site and client-to-site services.


8.0 Troubleshooting Guide

The Troubleshooting Guide is mostly restricted to Installation and VPN services. Refer to this guide for details on how to debug and troubleshoot the Install problems and VPN services.


9.0 VPN Deployment FAQ

The VPN Deployment FAQ lists some of the common deployment scenarios and provides our recommendation and steps to follow. This guide is the first version of a more comprehensive guide in the future.


10.0 VPN Client

These two documents provide a basic overview of the VPN client product that ships along with Novell BorderManager 3.8.


10.1 VPN Client Quick Start Guide

This VPN Client Quick Start Card provides instructions on how to set up and configure the VPN client which comes along with this package.


10.2 VPN Client ReadMe

This VPN client readme provides information on VPN client features and lists the known problems and limitations with this software.

11.0 Novell Client Firewall

These four documents provide a basic overview of the Novell Client Firewall (NCF) product that ships along with Novell BorderManager 3.8.

This NCF Quick Start Card provides instructions on how to set up and configure NCF which comes along with this package.


11.2 NCF 2 ReadMe

This NCF readme provides information on NCF features and lists the known problems and limitations with this software.

This NCF Administration Guide provides information on NCF features and helps you manage and run the lists software.


12.0 Additional Documentation

12.1 NMAS 2.2.4 Installation Guide

This guide is useful in case you choose not to install NMAS during Novell BorderManager 3.8 installation.


12.2 NMAS 2.2.4 Administration Guide

This guide describes the NMAS functionality and is an essential read in case you want to understand how the authentication policies work for NMAS (instead of for BMAS).


12.3 Universal Smart Card Guide

This guide describes the NMAS authentication methods.


12.4 NICI 2.6.2 Administration Guide

These guides describes NICI. The document is available at NICI.


12.5 iManager 2.0.1 Administration Guide

These guides describes iManager 2.0.1. The document is available at iManager.
