Preparing the Central Office

This chapter describes the hardware and software requirements and central office setup necessary to deploy the Novell^® Nterprise^TM Branch Office^TM appliance in your network. If this appliance will be part of a central office network and will take advantage of the following features, you should read this chapter before initializing the appliance hardware.

• If users whose usernames reside in a central office eDirectory LDAP tree will be authenticating to the appliance using LDAP authentication, you must configure the central office LDAP servers.
• If you will back up data at the branch offices to servers located at the central office, you must configure replication to the central office servers.

If this appliance will be a standalone appliance, you do not need to configure the central office network. You only need to initialize the hardware. See Initializing and Configuring Branch Office Appliance .
