Consolidating Server Hardware and Data to Branch Office

You can consolidate your server hardware and data from any number of NetWare® 3, 4, 5, 6; Windows NT 4/2000; and Linux servers to a Novell® NterpriseTM Branch OfficeTM appliance. Consolidating from a NetWare 4, 5, or 6 server is simplified by the Novell NetWare Server Consolidation Utility (see Using the Server Consolidation Utility to Consolidate Server to the Nterprise Branch Office Appliance ). Consolidating from NetWare 3 or Windows NT/2000 is a manual process (see Manually Consolidating NetWare 3, Windows NT, or Windows 2000 Servers ).

Branch Office appliances contain only user accounts and data; they do not run applications. If the servers you are consolidating are running applications, you can continue to maintain a server at the branch office for applications or you can consolidate the applications to a server at your central office.

At the central office, most customers have either a clustered SAN environment that can be accessed by a portal service or a terminal server environment that is accessed by a thin-client terminal session. This documentation contains no instructions on how to do this.
