If your central office uses Novell® ZENworks® for Servers (ZfS) Tiered Electronic Distribution (TED), you can resolve TED certificates to the Novell NterpriseTM Branch OfficeTM appliance and distribute data to the appliance. For example, you can distribute data to one or many Nterprise Branch OfficeTM appliances using TED as opposed to mailing CDs, disks, or other media to your remote offices.
WARNING: TED should not be used for distributing software applications, patches, software packages, or data that make changes to the sys: volume unless such distributions are specifically authorized by Novell. Modifying the sys: volume could disable the appliance. We strongly recommend that you create a separate distribution channel for Nterprise Branch Office appliances so that distributions intended for NetWare servers are not sent to Nterprise Branch Office appliances.
This guide assumes that you already have experience with ZENworks for Servers 3, including the configuration of TED components, the creation of Channels and Distributions, and a working knowledge the distribution process in general. Only a subset of the ZENworks for Servers 3 documentation that is necessary to configure the TED components included with your Nterprise Branch Office appliance is included in this guide. For more complete information on ZENworks for Servers and TED, see Understanding Tiered Electronic Distribution.
