Applying NetWare Support Pack Updates

Once you apply NetWare 6.5 Support Pack 2, you will then be able to install the latest NetWare support packs directly through the Branch Office Administrator interface.

HINT:  The previous upgrade method is still available under the Apply Field Patch radio button. The new upgrade feature is located under the Apply NetWare Support Pack radio button.


To apply a NetWare Support Pack:

  1. Download the desired support pack from novell.com.

  2. Run the self-extracting zip file to expand its contents to a directory on your workstation.

  3. Zip those files up again and save it using the .zip file extension.

  4. From a Web browser, access the Branch Office Administrator.

  5. In the left frame under Nterprise Branch Office, click Upgrade.

  6. Check the NetWare Support Pack radio button.

  7. Click Upload file and locate the zipped file you created containing the support pack.

    HINT:  Because support packs are typically large files, this process could take several minutes to complete. When the Upload File disappears, upload process is complete. Once uploaded, the file is then unzipped into the data:\softchip directory.

  8. From the directory tree that appears in the scrolling text box to the left of the Upload button, select the support pack's install script file, SPACK.IPS.

  9. Click Run Upgrade and click OK.

The server should automatically reboot once the upgrade has completed.
