About Editing Object Properties

You can control an object's behavior by editing its properties. When editing properties, note the following.

Saving Changes
The OK, Cancel, and Apply buttons in the properties dialog box affect all the property pages. OK and Apply save all changes to all pages (Apply leaves the dialog box open), and Cancel discards all changes on all pages.

Navigating Pages
Each tab in the properties dialog box can contain multiple property pages. To choose the page you want, click the drop-down list on the tab.

Multivalue Fields
Fields that have a control beside them can contain multiple values. To see all the values in such a field, click the multivalue control. To enter multiple values, type a value and press Enter, type another value and press Enter, and so on.

The number of values that can be listed in a multivalue field or list box is limited by your available RAM.

Editing Properties of Multiple Objects
If you are editing the properties of multiple objects simultaneously, no values are displayed on the property pages. This is because the property values might be different for each object. Also, some properties might not be listed at all on the property pages. This is because they apply only to specific object instances. For example, it doesn't make sense to give multiple users the same last name, so the Last Name field isn't listed on the page.

For single-value properties, any settings you make on the property pages will completely replace the existing property values in each object. For multivalue properties, any settings you make will be added to the existing property values.

Disabled Fields and Options
Individual fields and buttons are disabled if you don't have rights to access them or if another item must be modified first to enable the field or button.
