Managing the Lock Manager Service for the Gateway

This section describes how to obtain the status of file locks and how to release existing locks. Before using the instructions in this section, you should be familiar with the concept of file locking. If you are not familiar with this topic, refer to "NFS Gateway File Lock Control" under "Understanding."

NOTE: The Lock Manager service does not start automatically when you start the NFS server. If you did not start this service during installation, you must start it as described in "Starting a Service."


Using the Gateway Lock Manager Screens

If you need information about a specific field on one of these screens, position the cursor in the field and press F1.


Locks by Volume Name List

The Locks by Volume Name list lists the locks on each volume.

  1. From the UNICON Main Menu, select Manage Services > NFS Server > View Lock Status > Locks by Volume Name.

    Select a specific volume to display detailed information about the volumes's locks.


    Filename---the name of the locked file.

    Lock Type---the type of lock (shared or exclusive).

    Lock Range ---the range of the lock (partial or whole).

  2. Complete procedure and exit.


Locks by Connection List

The Locks by Connection list lists currently locked files by connection.

  1. From the UNICON Main Menu, select Manage Services > NFS Server > View Lock Status > Locks by Connection.

    Select a specific connection to display detailed information about the lock.


    Filename ---the name of the locked file.

    Lock Type---the type of lock (shared or exclusive).

    Lock Range---the range of the lock (partial or whole).

  2. Complete procedure and exit.


Determining Which Volumes Have Locked Files

  1. From the UNICON Main Menu, select Manage Services > NFS Server > View Lock Status > Locks by Volume.

    The utility displays the Locks by Volume list described on "Locks by Volume Name List."

  2. To see which files are locked, select a volume.

    The utility displays the lock information described on "Locks by Volume Name List."

  3. To return to the Main Menu, press Esc as many times as needed.

    The utility displays the Main Menu.


Determining Which Connections Have Locked Files

Use this procedure to determine which connections have locked files:

  1. From the UNICON Main Menu, select Manage Services > NFS Server > View Lock Status > Locks by Connection.

    The utility displays the Locks by Connection list described on "Locks by Connection List."

  2. To see which files are locked, select a connection.

    The utility displays the lock information described on "Locks by Connection List."

  3. To return to the Main Menu, press Esc as many times as needed.

    The utility displays the Main Menu.


Deleting File Locks

  1. From the UNICON Main Menu, select Manage Services > NFS Server > View Lock Status > Locks by Volume (Connection).

    The utility displays the Locks by Volume list described on "Locks by Volume Name List" or the Locks by Connection list described on "Locks by Connection List."

  2. Select a volume or connection.

    The utility displays the lock information described on "Locks by Volume Name List" or "Locks by Connection List."

  3. Highlight a specific lock or use F5 to mark multiple locks. Press Delete.

    The utility releases the files and redisplays the list.

  4. To return to the Main Menu, press Esc as many times as needed.

    The utility displays the Main Menu.
