5.3 Creating Point of Service Images

With the image building server up and running, you can create client images required for your Point of Service terminals. Before doing so, however, you must copy the image source files from the Novell Linux Point of Service CDs to the image building server and define their location.

  1. Copy the image source files to your image building server using either the POSCDTool or the POSCopyTool script.

For detailed instructions, see Copying the Novell Linux Point of Service CDs in the Novell Linux Point of Service 9 Administration Guide.

  2. Define the location of the image source files in either the AdminServer.conf file (used by scr) or the Distribution.xml file (used by xscr).

These files define the paths to the distribution directories where you have copied the Novell Linux Point of Service CDs. ImageBuilder searches these paths to locate the RPM packages required to build images.

For detailed instructions, see Generating AdminServer.conf or Distribution.xml in the Novell Linux Point of Service 9 Administration Guide.

  3. Build the Point of Service image files.

For detailed instructions, see Building Images with scr or Building Images with xscr in the Novell Linux Point of Service 9 Administration Guide.
