8.4 Creating the Required LDAP Objects

Next, you must use the posAdmin command to create the LDAP objects required to configure the Branch Server and boot its Point of Service terminals.

Branch Objects
- One or more organizationalUnit objects to represent your organizational structure.
- An scLocation object for the site where the Admin/Branch Server is located.
- An scServerContainer to contain the BranchServer objects.
- An scBranchServer object and its associated configuration objects for the Branch Server.
  
  IMPORTANT:You must create the scBranchServer object and its supporting organizational structure before you can run posInitBranchserver.sh to configure the Branch Server.
  
  The Common Name (cn) of the scBranchServer object in the LDAP directory must match the hostname defined when you installed the Admin/Branch Server. For example, if the hostname is bs1, specify that for the --cn attribute of the scBranchServer object. For more information on defining the Branch Server hostname during installation, see Network Interfaces.
An scCashRegister object and its associated configuration objects for each type of Point of Service terminal in your system:

IMPORTANT:You must create scCashRegister and its associated objects before you can boot the Point of Service terminals.
- scHarddisk or scRamDisk
- scConfigFileTemplate (optional)
- scConfigFileSyncTemplate (optional)
An scPosImage objects for each client image file that you want the Branch Server to distribute to Point of Service terminals.

IMPORTANT:You must create the scPosImage objects and set the scPosImageVersion attribute to Active before you boot the Point of Service terminals. The Point of Service terminals require an scPosImage object with an active scPosImageVersion attribute before they can download the corresponding physical image from the Branch Server at boot time.
