9.1 Preparing the Administration Server

To prepare for creating the POSBranch image:

You must have installed the ImageBuilder tools either on the Administration Server or on a dedicated Image Building Server.
For more information on installing ImageBuilder, see Section 4.0, Setting Up the Administration Server or Section 5.0, Setting Up a Dedicated Image Building Server.
Copy the SLES image source files from the Novell Linux Point of Service CDs to a central distribution directory.
For more information, see Copying the Novell Linux Point of Service CDs to a Central Distribution Directory in the Novell Linux Point of Service 9 Administration Guide.
Define the location of the image source files in the AdminServer.conf.sles file. This file is automatically generated when you create AdminServer.conf.

Provide access to a CD writer to create the boot media.

NOTE:The CD writer does not need to be installed on the Administration Server if the CD images can be transferred through the network to a machine equipped with a CD recorder.
