14.2 Installing IPTables Advanced

  1. Click Add/Remove under Components, then select All. Scroll down to Firewall (IPTables) and click Install.

  2. Click Advanced, then click Next.

  3. Specify your firewall configurations.

    • External Interface: The network interface connected to the Internet.

    • Internal Interface: The internal network interface. If you are using NAT, it routes from the external interface to the internal interface.

    • NAT: Network Address Translation shares the firewalled Internet connection with the network on the internal network interface. This is a must if you are using this server as your network firewall.

  4. Specify your firewall port setup. See Section 1.5, Planning for the NOWS SBE Install for typical ports that should be open for TCP and UDP.

    • Additional Ports (TCP): Specify a comma-separated list of additional TCP ports to open on the firewall. Port ranges can be specified with a hyphen.

    • Additional Ports (UDP): Specify a comma-separated list of additional UDP ports to open on the firewall. Port ranges can be specified with a hyphen.

  5. Review the settings. To make a change, click Back. To proceed with the installation, click Next.

  6. The firewall install is complete. Click Finish to proceed to the available software page. Firewall is now listed on the installed software list.
