Novell Remote Manager

Novell Remote Manager (portal.nlm) is a browser-based utility that you can use to manage your NetWare servers from any network workstation running Mozilla* Firefox* 1.0, Microsoft* Internet Explorer 6 or later, Mozilla 1.7 (SLES 9 SP1 and Linux Professional 9.2), KDE 3.2 Konqueror (limited functionality), NetWare Server browser, or Safari* 1.2 (limited functionality) (font text set at medium or smaller)

Use Novell Remote Manager to monitor your server's health, change the configuration of your server, or perform diagnostic and debugging tasks.

To access Novell Remote Manager, enter the correct URL in a Web browser or click a link in from the Novell Remote Manager Welcome Web page.

To access Novell Remote Manager, in a Web browser, enter either the IP_address or DNS_name_of_the_server, followed by port :8009. For example:

https://172.16.135.150:8009

or

https://myserver.mycompany.com:8009

If you want to have Novell Remote Manager respond on multiple IP addresses, enter the following command at the System Console prompt:

httpbind ip address or server's DNS name /keyfile:"SSL certificate name for the specified server"

Make sure there are no spaces between the parameter keyfile and the Certificate name string.

For example:

httpbind 192.168.1.2 /keyfile:"SSL CertificateIP"

If you want to make the change without worrying about syntax, do the following:

  1. Open Novell Remote Manager.

  2. Click the Config icon, then click the HTTP IP Address and Port Setup link.

  3. Click Open Port.

  4. Select the IP address that you want to respond to Novell Remote Manager, then click Next.

  5. Type the port number that you want to open, then click Next.

  6. On the Enable SSL page, select the Enable check box to make the port secure and request a login.

  7. Click Next > OK > Done.
