NDS Manager

Purpose

Use at a Windows 3.1x or Windows 95 workstation to manage Novell Directory Services (NDS) partitions and replicas on a NetWare server.

NDS Manager provides

Partitioning and replication services for the NDS database, as well as repair capabilities for repairing the database from a client workstation
Server and workstation services at a single client location, which reduces the need for administrators of NDS to use RCONSOLE or to work directly with a server console
Version update capability so that any or all NetWare servers in a network can be updated to a newer version of the DS.NLM

NOTE: NDS Manager replaces the Partition Manager utility that was accessed from the Tools menu in the NetWare Administrator utility in earlier versions of the NetWare 4 operating system. NDS Manager has a graphical, hierarchical browser and many new features that were not available in Partition Manager.

Starting NDS Manager

NDS Manager can be run as a standalone executable from SYS:PUBLIC.

You can also configure NDS manager to run as a tool under the Tools menu in NetWare Administrator. For instructions, see Setting Up NDS Manager in Chapter 5 of Supervising the Network.

NDS Manager's Help system provides complete documentation. In the Help you will find overview information, procedural information, and context-sensitive help.

To get help from a view in NDS Manager, click the ? icon in the toolbar. For help on a specific dialog box, choose the Help button. To browse the Help contents, choose Contents from the Help menu.
