9.1 Accessing Processor Information

Information about the processor speed as well as the local cache sizes is useful in determining how much work a processor can do.

To access this information, click the Processors link in the navigation frame to access the Processor Information page.

From this page, you can view the status and detailed information about all processors available on the server.

Many of the profiling operations in NovellĀ® Remote Manager (portal.nlm) require at least a Pentium* Pro processor (family 6 or higher). If the processor is a Pentium III or higher model, the processor serial number is also displayed.

WARNING:Stopping processors unnecessarily might cause the server to fail.

If more than one processor is present, you can stop and start processors individually (except for P0) by clicking the corresponding Stop/Start processor link.

In a virtualized environment, the processor information is reported from the perspective of the server where you connected.

The actual usage statistics of the physical processors are not known by Novell Remote Manager. You could use the Virtual Machine Manager to see that type of information.
