Novell Remote Manager communicates using port 80 or 81 (default), or 8008 or 8009 (alternate default). Port 80 and 8008 access the Login page, and then all other communications take place through secure HTTP ports 81 or 8009. These default settings can be changed on the Configuration page.
The HTTPS communication uses SSL encryption. It uses the server certificate by default; however, you can reconfigure this setting if desired.
You can obtain a security report that is helpful in tracking security risks on a server. From this report you can view the following:
Trustee assignments for each volume.
Trustee assignments for each common folder on volume sys:.
Security information for each protocol loaded on the server.
A list of users that have security equivalence to user Admin.
A list of users and a list of several parameters related to security that you can track such as passwords required, uniqueness, minimum length and expiration information, and grace login limits and remaining settings.
