Hewlett-Packard* NDPS Gateway

  • Enables printing to Hewlett Packard printers. An alternative to the Novell gateway. Provides custom configuration and control for Hewlett-Packard printers.

  • Unloading the gateway disables print support for the printers that were configured to use that gateway.

  • Gateways depend on eDirectory, the Web server for the iManager management consoles, and NDPS, which includes dplsv386.nlm, broker.nlm, ndpsm.nlm, and their dependencies.

  • Gateways are not loaded by default.

hwdetect.nlm

Novell Hardware Insertion/Removal Detection

  • Recognizes that a PCI device has been removed or a new PCI device has been added to the system. Upon learning of a new device, it loads hwdetect.nlm and tries to find a driver that supports the hardware. Needed for the support of PCI Hot Plug.

  • If unloaded, you lose the ability to track changes of hardware and subsequently PCI Hot Plug operations.

  • Dependent on nbi.nlm and cdbe.nlm.
