You create cost centers in Novell eDirectoryTM by using Organizational Role objects. Each user you add as an occupant to the organizational role becomes a budget holder for the cost center.
To create a cost center and assign its budget holders:
In ConsoleOne®, right-click the container where you want to create the cost center > click New > click Object.
Select Organizational Role in the Class list, then click OK to display the New Organizational Role dialog box.
Enter a name for the cost center (for example, DEPT12345), then click OK to create the object.
IMPORTANT: Do not use an & character in the name.
Right-click the newly-created object, then click Extensions of this Object.
In the Extensions of this Object dialog box, click Add Extension.
In the list of auxiliary class extensions, select commerceBudgetHolderRole, then click OK to display the BudgetHolder page.
Fill in the following fields:
Current Budget Holder: The cost center can have more than one budget holder. This allows for reassignment of the budget holder responsibilities from one person to another (for example, if a budget holder goes on vacation). The current budget holder determines which budget holder is active.
User Containers: Budget holders can create user accounts in eDirectory. By default, the user accounts will be created in the same container as the cost center object. If you add one container to this list, the users will be created in that container. If you add two or more, the budget holder will be able to select which container a user is created in.
Click OK to close the page, then click Close to close the Extensions of this Object dialog box.
Right-click the object > click Properties.
On the Identification page, use the Occupant list to add each user you want to assign as a budget holder for the cost center. Include the user you defined as the current budget holder.
IMPORTANT: Adding a user to the Occupant list not only makes the user a budget holder for the cost center but also gives him or her security equivalence to the cost center object, which is required for budget holders. If you do not define the current budget holder as an occupant, you need to manually assign the user to the cost center's Security Equal to Me list.
Click OK.
