This section discusses additions and modifications to NSS for OES SP1 and to NSS for NetWare 6.5 SP4.
The following NSS features and capabilities have been added or modified for OES Linux:
Encrypted volume support. For information, see Managing Encrypted NSS Volumes.
User space quota support. For information, see Section 18.4, Managing User Space Quotas.
RAID 5 support. For information, see Section 9.5, Creating a Software RAID Device Using iManager.
Hard links support. For information, see Managing Hard Links.
Lookup Name Space. Mount an NSS volume in any of the names paces, using NSSMU or the Storage plug-in to iManager 2.5. Long name space is highly recommended. For information, see Section 13.2.8, Lookup Name Space.
Metadata Migration (METAMIG, metamig) utility. For information, see Section A.8, METAMIG (Linux).
Direct partitions format upgrade for NetWare 6.0 NSS volumes moved to an OES SP1 Linux server. For information, see Section 6.7, Moving Non-Clustered Devices From NetWare 6.0 to OES SP1 Linux or Later.
Performance improvements such as cache integration and NCP Server integration.
Storage plug-in requires Novell iManager 2.5. For OES SP1, the Storage plug-in has been redesigned. To take advantage of the changes, you must upgrade from iManager 2.0.2 to iManager 2.5. For information, see

The following NSS features and capabilities have been added or modified for OES NetWare:
New Media Format. A new metadata structure supports enhanced hard link capability. You must upgrade the media format after upgrading the server to OES SP1 NetWare or NetWare 6.5 SP4. Some restrictions apply. For information, see Section 5.1, Guidelines for Upgrading the Media Format of NSS Volumes on NetWare.
DFS junctions can point to NSS volumes on Linux.
Purge and salvage deleted directories in Novell Remote Manager. For information, see Section 19.4, Salvaging or Purging Deleted Directories (NetWare).
Hard links support. Enhanced hard links support provides the following:
A Hard Links attribute for a volume allows the administrator to enable or disable the ability to create hard links for it. For information, see Section 21.2, Enabling or Disabling the Hard Links Attribute (OES SP1 NetWare, NetWare 6.5 SP4).
A new metadata structure that allows up to 65,535 hard links per volume. For information, see Section 21.1.9, New Metadata Structure Supports Up to 65,535 Hard Links for a File (OES SP1 NetWare, NetWare 6.5 SP4).
Storage plug-in requires Novell iManager 2.5. For OES SP1, the Storage plug-in has been redesigned. To take advantage of the changes, you must upgrade from iManager 2.0.2 to iManager 2.5. For information, see
