When you install Novell Samba, you are asked to specify a Samba proxy user for LDAP authentication through eDirectory.
By default, the eDirectory Admin user is designated as the Samba proxy user.
If the Admin user’s password is changed in eDirectory, you must also change the proxy password on the OES Linux server by entering the following at a shell prompt:
smbpasswd -w new_password
where new_password is the newly specified password for the Admin user in eDirectory.
