5.9 Using SUSE Manager to Upgrade from OES 11 to OES 11 SP1

  1. Ensure that you have completed the instructions in Section 7.9.1, Setting Up SUSE Manager and patched the OES 11 server with the latest patches.

  2. Perform the service pack migration:

    1. Log in to the SUSE Manager Web console with administrative credentials.

    2. Click System, then select the OES server to be migrated.

    3. Click Software > SP Migration and verify the information of the installed product and target product.

    4. Select the SLES11-extras channel, then click Schedule Migration > Confirm.

  3. After the support pack migration, reboot the OES 11 server.

  4. Log in to the OES 11 server, run the yast2 repositories command.

  5. From the repositories, remove the OES 11/SLES 11 SP1 installation sources, then add the OES 11 SP1/SLES 11 SP2 installation sources.

  6. After the OES server reboot, log in to the OES server with administrative credentials and run the yast2 channel-upgrade-oes command to complete the OES services reconfiguration. This will prompt for eDirectory and DSfW passwords if the answer file is not created. Provide the passwords and continue. For more information on creating the answer file, see Section 5.6.3, Creating an Answer File to Provide the eDirectory and DSfW Passwords.

  7. Run the yast2 oes-install command to complete the channel upgrade.

    IMPORTANT:After running this command, ensure that you complete the process without making any configuration modifications. Just click Accept, Next, or Finish in the respective screens.
