These issues should be understood in the context of eDirectory non-replica servers. For more information on eDirectory, refer to the NetIQ eDirectory 8.8 SP8 Administration Guide.

SLP-DA (Directory Agent)
There are two possible problems for a non-replica OES server in SLP-DA mode:
The non-replica OES server is not able to reach the DA server.
The replica OES server is not able to reach the DA server.
There is one possible cause for this problem for a non-replica OES server in Multicast SLP mode:
The firewall is on, so multicast communication is not possible.
If the message indicates Replica server is not able to reach the DA server, ensure the DA server is within the multicast range of the replica server. If it is not within the multicast range, provide the IP address of the DA server in the SLP configuration file of the replica server.

For the Multicast SLP configuration, turn the firewall off.
