C.0 Workstation Considerations

There are some impacts on network workstations resulting from a migration to OES 2.

Domain Services for Windows

Domain Services for Windows (DSfW) provides Windows users with seamless integration between eDirectory™ and Active Directory. For an overview of this new functionality, see Section 3.5, About Domain Services for Windows.

Novell Client

As OES 2 is implemented, existing clients can be used (Windows XP, 2000, NT, Vista). However, an upgrade to the latest clients and workstation OS is required to take full advantage of the new features of eDirectory and OES 2, such as NMAS™ and Password Self Service.

iFolder

The iFolder client must be installed on all Macintosh, Linux, and Windows workstations that use this functionality in OES 2.

iPrint

The iPrint agent must also be installed on all Macintosh, Linux, and Windows workstations that use this functionality in the OES 2 environment.
