10.2 Activating Use of NetworkManager

If you want to manage your network connection with NetworkManager, enable NetworkManager in the YaST Network Card module. If you switch your system from the traditional configuration with YaST to NetworkManager, NetworkManager adopts the configurations from YaST. To enable NetworkManager, proceed as follows:

  1. Run YaST and go to Network Devices > Network Card.

  2. The Network Settings dialog opens. Go to the Global Options tab.

  3. In the Network Setup Method field, activate User Controlled with NetworkManager.

  4. Click Finish.

If you want to deactivate NetworkManager and control network the traditional way, choose the Traditional Method with ifup option in the Network Setup Method field.
