26.4 Rotating Your Display

Use KRandRTray (KDE) or resapplet (GNOME) to rotate or resize your display manually on the fly. Both KRandRTray and resapplet are applets for the RANDR extension of the X server. After you have started the respective applet, the applet icon is added to your system tray.

Start KRandRTray or resapplet from the main menu, or enter krandrtray or resapplet to start the applet from a shell. To rotate your display with KRandRTray, right-click the icon and select Configure Display. Select the desired orientation from configuration dialog.

To rotate your display with resapplet, right-click the icon and select the desired orientation below Screen rotation. Your display is immediately tilted to the new direction. The orientation of the graphics tablet changes also so it can still interpret the movement of the pen correctly.

If you have problems changing the orientation of your desktop, refer to Section 26.7, Troubleshooting for more information.
