You can define a new file system index by giving it a unique name and specifying the path to the directories on your file server containing the documents to be indexed.
As with naming a crawled index, enter a unique name, such as Sales or Marketing. If you are going to create a larger number of indexes, you might consider using a numbering system, such as 001, 002, 003, etc.
Enter the actual directory path to the folders containing the content you want indexed, and then add the corresponding URL address.
For example, suppose you wanted to make your company's sales reports searchable. If the reports were located at volume:/SALES/REPORTS, you would then enter this path in the Server Path to Be Indexed field.
Then in the Corresponding URL prefix, you could enter /REPORTS.
