These other SAML use cases have not yet received the exposure and attention that the Web SSO cases have. Web SSO is a good first step, but doesn't fully utilize all of the features and functionally of SAML. It is expected that as SAML technology becomes more widely deployed, these higher-level transactions will get more attention.
