Using DetectExisting.exe

IMPORTANT:  DetectExisting.exe is not supported by Novell. Nevertheless, this along with some other tools are provided in the Unsupported directory of the SecureLogin product CD to assist users in troubleshooting and configuring SecureLogin.

The DetectExisting.exe detects applications that are already running (before SecureLogin is loaded). This utility detects all running applications and informs SecureLogin of their presence. Virtually, SecureLogin starts functioning as if the applications started running after SecureLogin.

DetectExisting.exe detects only the Windows applications. Also it supports the following platforms:

To use DetectExisting.exe:

  1. Copy DetectExisting.exe from the SecureLogin 3.51.2 CD to your workstation.

This file is available in the following directory:

    SecureLogin_cd\SecureLogin\Tools\Unsupported

  2. Use the startup script to run the utility as in the following example, ensuring that you specify the full path.

    Run c:\programfiles\NSL\SecureLogin\Utilities\DetectExisting.exe

Adding the utility to a startup script ensures that it runs only when SecureLogin is active.
