B.1 Creating DFS Namespace Permissions

The Novell Storage Manager Proxy Rights Group (named NSMProxyRights by default) requires Full Control in the CIFS permissions on the root share of the DFS namespace.

  1. Click Start > Administrative Tools > DFS Management to launch the DFS Management console.

  2. Right-click the Namespaces node and select New Namespace.

    This launches the New Namespace Wizard.

  3. Use the Browse button to specify the server that will host the namespace.

  4. Click Next.

  5. In the Name field, specify the name of the namespace.

    For example, HomeNamespace or Public.

  6. Click Edit Settings.

  7. Select Use custom permissions and click Customize.

  8. In the Permissions dialog box, select the proxy rights group, select the Full Control check box, then click OK.

  9. In the Namespace Type wizard page, select the type of namespace to create, then click Next.

  10. Review settings and click Create.

  11. Click Close to close the wizard.
