1.1 File Server Resource Manager

Microsoft File Server Resource Manager is a suite of tools from Microsoft that allows administrators to better understand, control, and manage the quantity and type of data stored on their servers. Novell Storage Manager uses File Server Resource Manager to enable quota management.

NOTE:You must install File Server Resource Manager on all servers where Novell Storage Manager will be managing quotas for user or collaborative storage.

1.1.1 Installing File Server Resource Manager

Quotas for user and collaborative storage can be managed through Novell Storage Manager on Windows Server 2012 and Windows Server 2008 SP2 or R2. You need to install File Server Resource Manager on every server or active node that will be hosting user or collaborative quota-managed storage.

  1. At the server or node, select Start > Server Manager.

  2. In the left pane of the Server Manager interface, select Roles > File Services.

  3. In the Role Services list box, select File Server Resource Manager.

  4. Select Add Role Services.

    This brings up the Select Role Services dialog box.

  5. From the list of role services, select the check box corresponding to File Server Resource Manager and click Next.

  6. When the Configure Storage Usage Monitoring window appears, click Next.

  7. When the confirmation window appears, click Install.

  8. When the Results window indicates that the installation was successful, click Close.
