Workstation Reboots After Imaging and Hangs with "LI" on the Screen

Explanation:  If you have made an image from a workstation that has a ZfD imaging partition, and then put down the image on a workstation that does not have a ZfD imaging partition, the wrong MBR (Master Boot Record) is restored and the workstation will hang with "LI" on the screen.

Action:  To avoid having this occur, when imaging workstations without ZfD imaging partitions, make sure the image you create is made from a workstation that also does not have a ZfD imaging partition. Complete the following steps to correct the problem:

  1. Boot the workstation using imaging boot diskettes or an imaging boot CD.

  2. Enter lilo at the boot prompt.

or

  1. Access a bash prompt.

  2. If it is PXE-enabled, boot the workstation from the PXE server. Make sure to hold down the left Alt and Shift keys during the PXE boot to get the PXE menu. The menu must not be disabled on the server. (See the General PXE Settings property page for the Workstation or Server Imaging policy in ConsoleOne®.)

  3. Select to start in Maintenance Mode from the PXE menu.

  4. Enter lilo.s.
