The ZfD 3.2 SP1 Inventory server deletes the .STR files and triggers a full scan. The following message is displayed: "Could not process .STR_filename due to a non-Integer insertion for CIM_class_name.attribute_name"

Explanation:  You might encounter this error for any attribute of a CIM class such as CIM.Processor.Family.

Possible Cause:  The .STR file is for a Windows 98 (and not Windows 98 SE) workstation, which has the default version of WMI installed. The default version of WMI is not compatible with ZfD 3.2 SP1.

Action:  You can update to correct WMI version by downloading Microsoft's Windows Management Instrumentation - Core Software Installation from Microsoft WMI Web site.

NOTE:  To instrument a workstation for WMI, you need to download only the WMI Core Software Installation.

To troubleshoot any WMI-related problems, you can also download the WMI SDK.

Action:  If you do not want to update WMI, you can disable WMI scanning.

On the Inventory server, edit the PUBLIC\ZENWORKS\SCANSOURCE.INI file to set the value of doWMIScan=FALSE.
