B.1 Configuring the TFTP Directory Replication Settings at the Management Zone Level

To replicate the changes made to the tftp directory on all the Imaging servers (Primary Servers or Satellites with the Imaging role) in the Management Zone:

  1. In ZENworks Control Center, click the Configuration tab.

  2. In the Management Zone Settings panel, click Device Management > Preboot Services > TFTP Replication Settings.

  3. In the Master Primary Server to Start the TFTP Replication field, specify or click Browse icon to browse for and select the Primary Imaging server whose tftp directory changes you want to replicate on all other servers in the zone.

Ensure that there is no circular dependency on the selected Primary Server. For more information on how to resolve a circular dependency, see Section B.5, Resolving Circular Dependency on the Master Primary Server.

NOTE:If you choose a Linux Imaging server as the master Primary Server, ensure that all the files that are added to the /srv/tftp/ directory on the master Primary Server have the zenworks ownership. To change the ownership of a file to zenworks, use the chown zenworks:zenworks filename command.

  4. (Conditional) If you do not want to replicate the tftp directory changes on a specific server in the zone, click Add in the Excluded Servers pane, and select the server to be excluded.

The server is added to the Excluded Servers list.

  5. Configure the schedule when you want the tftp directory changes to be replicated on the servers. You can set up a schedule and as well as immediately start the replication.

    • To immediately start the tftp directory replication, click Start Now in the TFTP Folder Replication field.

    • To set up a schedule:

      1. In the Schedule Type field, select one of the following schedules:

      2. Fill in the fields.

For details about the fields, click the appropriate schedule listed above.

  6. Click OK.

The tftp directory changes are replicated on all the servers in the zone except for the servers that are in the Excluded Servers list.

  7. (Optional) To view the replication status, click Show Status in the TFTP Replication Status field.

The status is displayed in the Replication Status dialog box.

The Replication Status dialog box displays the status of the tftp directory replication on the Imaging servers

The following information is displayed for each server:

    • Hostname of the Imaging server on which the tftp directory is replicated.

    • Hostname of the master Imaging server from where the changes are to be replicated.

    • Status of the replication.

      Status

      Details

      Pending

Replication of the tftp directory changes has been initiated on the master Primary Server, and the server is awaiting a response from the target Imaging servers.

      Success

The tftp directory changes have been successfully replicated from the master Primary Server to the Imaging servers

      In Sync

There are no changes to be replicated because the tftp directory on the Imaging servers is in sync with the tftp directory on the master Primary Server.

      Failure

The tftp directory replication failed. For details, see zmd-messages.log on the Imaging server and loader-messages.log on the master Primary server.

      The zmd-messages.log file is located in %ZENWORKS_HOME%\logs\LocalStore\ on a Windows Primary/Satellite and /var/opt/novell/zenworks/logs/LocalStore/ on a Linux Primary/Satellite.

The loader-messages.log is located in %ZENWORKS_HOME%/log/ on a Windows Primary Server and /var/opt/novell/zenworks/log/zenworks/ on a Linux Primary Server.

    • Date or time when the replication completed.

The completion date is displayed for all the replications completed prior to the current date, and the completion time is displayed for all the replications completed on the current date. If you want to view the date, time, and the time zone, move the mouse cursor over the displayed time or date.

To view the replication status of a specific Imaging server, specify the Imaging server hostname in the Name Filter field, then click Search icon.

In the list, you can sort the imaging servers by the time when the replication was completed.

The status entries for an Imaging server are deleted from the Replication Status dialog box in the following scenarios:

    • The Imaging role is removed from the Satellite.

    • The Imaging Server is deleted. (ZENworks is uninstalled either from the Primary Server or the Secondary Server).

If two tftp replication tasks are consecutively performed on a device and if the second task is triggered prior to the completion of the first task, only the changes in the last triggered replication (which is cumulative of the first and the second tasks) are applied on the device.
