An inventory scan allows you to collect data from managed devices in your Management Zone.

You can define the scan settings at three levels:

  • Management Zone: The settings are inherited by all device folders and devices.

  • Device Folder: The settings are inherited by all devices contained within the folder or its subfolders. Overrides the Management Zone settings.

  • Device: The settings apply only to the device for which they are configured. Overrides the settings at the Management Zone and folder levels.

NOTE:If you are configuring the inventory settings on a device folder or a device, you need to click Override Settings before you can change the system settings.

The Inventory page allows you to configure the inventory scanning settings, which include the following:

  • Scan Now: Settings for scans made on demand through either the ZENworks Icon or a Quick Task.

  • First Scan: Settings for scanning a device for the first time.

  • Recurring Scan: Settings for ongoing scans.

  • Software Applications: Settings that determine the paths to exclude when scanning for software applications.

  • Software Files: Settings that determine the files and paths to include or exclude when scanning for software files.

  • Advanced: Settings for advanced diagnostics.

Click Apply or OK to save your settings. Click Reset to return to the default values.
