9.5 Copying the Relationships of a Device to Other Devices, Folders, and Groups

The Copy Relationships page allows you to copy the Bundles, Policies and Group relationships of a selected device to the target devices, folders, and groups. It also allows you to add the target devices, devices inside the target folder, members of the target groups to members of the groups in which the selected device is a member.

The Copy Relationships option is not enabled for a workstation group or a dynamic workstation group.

To perform Copy Relationships operation:

  1. In ZENworks Control Center, click the Devices tab.

  2. In the Devices page, select the check box next to a device.

    For the Copy Relationships operation, you need to select a device that has existing relationships to copy. Otherwise, an error message is displayed:

    The selected target object has no relationships to perform copy operation
  3. Click Action > Copy Relationships.

  4. Select either all or only the required bundles, policies, and groups for copying.

  5. Click Next to display the Select Target Objects page.

  6. Select devices, folders, or groups to which you want to copy the relationships. When you select a folder or group, the relationships will be copied only to the objects within the folder or group.

  7. Direct Assignment Options allow you to copy relationships easily if the target devices are members of a folder or members of groups. Select all or only the required Direct Assignment Options listed.

    1. If you check this, the relationships will be copied to the devices within the selected target groups.

    2. If you check this, the relationships will be copied to the devices within the selected folders.

    3. If you check this, the relationships will be copied to the devices within the sub-folders of the selected target folders.

  8. Conflict Resolution Options resolve the conflicts that might arise due to a conflict between the existing relationships of the target device and that of the selected device. Select all or only the required Conflict Resolution Options listed:

    1. If you check this, the existing relationships of the target device will be removed while copying the selected relationships.

    2. If you check this, the selected relationships will be copied to the target device and the existing relationships will be retained.

  9. Group Membership Options allow you to add members of the target groups, objects of the target folder and sub-folder as members of the groups to which the selected device belongs. You can add the target devices as members of the groups in which the selected device is a member.

    You can also add members of target groups as members of the groups in which the selected device is a member.

    Example 9-1 For Example:

    The target group B has b1, b2, and b3 as members. The selected (source) group A has a1, a2, and a3 as members. You cannot associate A and B groups directly. However you can add b1, b2 and b3 as members of a1, a2, and a3.

    Select all or only the required Group Membership Options listed. If the selected device is not a member of any group, the Group Membership Option will not be available on this page.

    1. If you check this, the members of the target group will be added as members of the group to which the selected device belongs.

    2. If you check this, objects that are inside the target folders will be added as members of the groups to which the selected device belongs.

      1. If you check this, objects inside a folder and its sub-folder will be added as members of the groups to which the selected device belongs.

    3. If you check this, the group memberships of the target devices will be deleted.

  10. Click Next to display the Finish page, then review the information and, if necessary, use the Back button to make changes to the configured settings for Copy Relationships> Click OK.
