Download and Installation

The Novell Endpoint Lifecycle Management Suite includes the following files:

Endpoint Security Management and Full Disk Encryption are also installed. You can activate these two products during installation or at a later time for a 60-day evaluation period.

Installation of ZENworks Application Virtualization 9.0.

The ZAV-9.0-Studio.zip file includes the following item:
  • Setup.msi: The Microsoft Windows Installer setup package for ZENworks Application Virtualization.
The ZAV-9.0-Streaming.zip file includes the following items:
  • SpoonServer/StandaloneTemplate.zip: The Spoon Standalone server plug-in used for streaming applications
  • Tools/SpoonPlay.exe: The SpoonPlay command line utility, used to stream applications
  • Tools/SpoonReg.exe: A command line tool used with SpoonPlay to supply some shell integration such as desktop shortcuts, Start menu shortcuts, and file associations
  • Tools/XVm.exe: A program called by SpoonPlay to run a streamed application. This file must be copied to the same folder where you run SpoonPlay.exe
  • Tools/MSNet_x86_2.0.50727_3.svm: If the SpoonReg.exe tool is to be run in an environment that doesn’t have the Microsoft .NET framework already installed, this file must remain in the same folder as SpoonReg.exe

Licensing for ZENworks 11 SP2

When you purchase the Endpoint Lifecycle Management Suite, you receive license keys for Asset Management, Configuration Management, and Patch Management. The license keys are available through your Novell Customer Center account. During installation, you are asked for the license keys to activate the products.

If you have not purchased the suite, you can install the software in evaluation mode. The evaluation mode lasts 60 days, after which you must either discontinue use of the products or provide valid license keys. No reinstallation of the software is required when you move from an evaluation license to a full license.

Licensing for ZENworks Application Virtualization 9.0

When you purchase the Endpoint Lifecycle Management Suite, you also receive a license certificate file for Application Virtualization. Download the license certificate file from your Novell Customer Center account.

If you have not purchased the suite, you can use the software in evaluation mode for 60 days. The interface clearly indicates when the product is running in the evaluation (unlicensed) mode.

Downloading the Software

To download any of the files except for the ZENworks Virtual Appliance image:

  1. If the download page displays a Proceed to Download button, you are not logged in yet. Click the button to log in. After you log in, you are returned to the download page.
  2. Click the Download button next to the file you want to download.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to download the file to a directory on your device.
  4. Repeat Steps 2 and 3 until you have downloaded all the files you need.

To download the ZENworks Virtual Appliance image:

  1. Download the ZENworks11SP2_Appliance-x86_64.ova file to a temporary directory on your device.
    or
    Download the multi-part ZENworks Virtual Appliance ZIP files to a temporary directory on your device, then create the ZENworks Virtual Appliance OVA file:
  2. Import the ZENworks Virtual Appliance OVA file, then deploy it to a virtual infrastructure.

Installing the Application Virtualization Software

To install the ZENworks Application Virtualization Studio (the "application packager"):

  1. Copy the ZAV-9.0-Studio.zip file to the machine where you want to install the software.
  2. Extract the Setup.msi setup package to a temporary directory, then double-click the .msi file to begin the installation on that machine.

The other zip file, ZAV-9.0-Streaming.zip, contains the files for the Spoon Standalone server and command line utilities for streaming applications.
