C.6 Assigning the Bundles and Scheduling the Upgrades

HINT:If you have a large-scale deployment, remember that you can set separate bundle deployment and installation schedules.

  1. Assign the SLES10-SP4-Pool to the OES 2 SP2 servers with Distribution Schedule:

    1. In the ZENworks Control Center, click Bundles.

    2. Click SLES 10-SP4-Pool.

    3. In the left column, select the SLES 10-SP4-Pool entry.

    4. Click Action > Assign to Device.

    5. Click Add, click the down-arrow by Servers, then select the servers you want to assign.

    6. Click OK > Next > Next > Finish > OK.

      NOTE:In the Bundle Assignment wizard, do not select Install Immediately after Distribution or Launch Immediately after Installation.

  2. Assign the OES2-SP3-Pool to the OES 2 SP2 servers with Distribution Schedule:

    1. In the ZENworks Control Center, click Bundles.

    2. Click OES2-SP3-Pool.

    3. In the left column, select the OES2-SP3-Pool catalog entry.

    4. Click Action > Assign to Device.

    5. Click Add, click the down-arrow by Servers, then select the servers you want to assign.

    6. Click OK > Next > Next > Finish >OK.

      NOTE:In the Bundle Assignment wizard, do not select Install Immediately after Distribution or Launch Immediately after Installation.

  3. Assign the OES2Upgrade Bundle to the OES 2 SP2 servers, and schedule the bundles to install appropriately:

    1. In the ZENworks Control Center click Bundles.

    2. In the left column, select the OES2Upgrade entry.

    3. Click Action > Assign to Device.

    4. Click Add, click the down-arrow by Servers, then select the servers you want to assign.

    5. Click OK > Next.

    6. Schedule the bundles to install according to your organization’s policy.

    7. Click Next > Finish > OK.

IMPORTANT:The servers you have selected in the preceding steps are now prepared to be upgraded to OES 2 SP3. The actual upgrade operations occur automatically as scheduled.

WARNING:Make sure that both the SLES10-SP4-Pool and the OES2-SP3-Pool bundles have been applied before applying the OES2Upgrade bundle.
